Saqib Saleem is gearing up for his first big-budget release in over three years. The actor, who was last seen in the critically-panned Race 3, will be seen essaying the role of Mohinder ‘Jimmy’ Amarnath in 83, a film based on the 1983 World Cup. The cricketer was the vice-captain of the ’83 squad. 

Ahead of the release, Saqib sat down with Hindustan Times for a candid chat about the film, the challenges he faced while playing Mohinder and the impact of Race 3’s critical failure.

You had previously said Race 3’s negative reviews left a negative impact on you. Can you talk a little bit about that phase?
