Garcelle Beauvais made waves late last month when she officially announced her departure from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. While the news seemed amicable at first, tensions quickly built up, especially during the reunion, eventually leading to her decision to leave the show. By the time Garcelle Beauvais made her exit public, there was already some underlying friction between her and the RHOBH cast, fueling the conversation online.

Naturally, the decision sparked a wave of commentary on social media, with many offering opinions on Garcelle’s choice to walk away. For a mother of two young sons, Jaid and Jax, it’s not surprising that she wanted to step back and focus on her family. But amid the speculation, one individual with close professional ties to Garcelle has come to her defense.
Patrick McDonald, a producer who worked with Garcelle Beauvais on the show, took to social media to share his thoughts and defend her character. He expressed admiration for Garcelle Beauvais’ behavior both on and off camera, highlighting her respect for the crew and her ability to make a tough decision in favor of her personal life.
“I wanna take a moment to address Garcelle’s announcement to leave the show because I’ve seen a lot of negativity online,” Patrick began in a video posted to TikTok.
He continued, “I could go on and on about how wonderful Garcelle Beauvais was to work with. But if you really want to know the true nature of a Real Housewife, just ask the crew. The way someone treats people who they think can’t help them says a lot about their character.”
@patrick_mcdonald PART 1 For the past 5 years I have been producing reality shows for Bravo. That is until recently when I was iced out from all the shows I work on after I started making adult content on subscription fan sites. The reason I started making this kind of content, besides the fact that I wanted to, was because I was extremely burnt out and exhausted by the incredibly toxic work culture on many of the shows I worked on. I have produced 13 seasons of Bravo TV across 9 different shows, from coast to coast. I’m acutely aware of the inner workings and work culture across the board at the network. It’s bittersweet as there are so many aspects of this job and so many people that work on these shows that I love. But ultimately I learned this job was not conducive to me living a healthy, balanced, and fulfilling life. So I made a pivot that some may not understand. And that’s okay! I couldn’t be happier or more content with what I’m doing now. As challenging as it was at times, I’ll always be grateful for many of the memories and friendships that came from this chapter of my life. I’ve always believed in trying to leave a place better than you found it. So on my way out, here are a few things about the toxic work culture I’d like to bring to @bravotv ‘s attention and hopefully see change in the future. On and up ? Patrick shared how Garcelle’s presence on set was always a positive experience. “Every time we found out we’d be working with Garcelle, the crew would get excited. And that’s not the case with all the ladies on the show. I’m so proud of Garcelle for making the decision to prioritize her family and her well-being over a reality TV career,” he concluded.

Through his words, Patrick McDonald sheds light on the kind of person Garcelle is beyond the glitz and glam of reality television — someone who treats others with kindness and respect, regardless of their role in the production. His message speaks volumes about the person Garcelle is, and how her departure is rooted in a desire to invest more in what truly matters to her: family.
