Avengers Endgame beats Avatar's original box office, makes Rs 19025 crore worldwide

Just before its re-release in the US, Avengers Endgame has beaten Avatar’s original box office record, before the James Cameron film was re-released again. Avengers Endgame has made 2.75 billion (Rs 19025 crore), after two months of release.

In its original theatrical run, Avatar made 2.749 billion dollars (Rs 18957 crore) worldwide. After it released in 2010 again, it made 33 milion more.

Endgame is the the second-highest grossing film in the US, after Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as well as in India. In India, the film crossed over Rs 300 crore within two weeks of its release.

The re-release of Avengers Endgame will include a post-credits scene that was not in the original theatricial cut. It will also have a special Stan Lee tribute.

In order to defeat Avatar’s total record, Endgame would have to make around 35 million dollars.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers Endgame, starring Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo among others is the culmination of a decade worth of storytelling. The film is the 22nd in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and tells the story of how the surviving heroes fight to the death and reverse the effects of Thanos’s deadly snap.
