When it comes to a group Halloween costumes, you have so many options. If there are three of you, you could be the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus. If there are more, you can try being the cast of The Good Place. But if you really want a group Halloween costumes that binds you and your besties together forever, despite eternal threats from an inter-dimensional being with psionic powers, there’s only one choice: the cast from Stranger Things. You’ll have to decide for yourselves who has the hair to pull off a Steve look and who looks best in a totally awesome ’80s romper, but, hey, that’s what friends do. We’ll take care of everything else you need to put together these Stranger Things Halloween costume ideas.
1. Barb Halloween Costume
Still not over her untimely death from season 1? Same. Turn into Barb with a plaid shirt, short red wig, glasses, and a take-no-sh*t- personality.
2. Erica Halloween Costume
Erica is the baddest little sister in the game. With a boss attitude and kickass outfits, she’s who I want to be when I grow up.
What you’ll need: Tie Strap Overalls in Railroad Stripe, $60, Madewell
3. Moody Eight and Eleven Halloween Costume
Remember when Eleven met Eight (that sounds like a bad joke, but it’s not) and then got this angsty all-black makeover? It’s arguably one of the best scenes of season 2. Get with the goth vibes for Halloween by dressing up as the telekinetic teen—or get with a friend and go as a pair.
4. Scoops Ahoy Employees Halloween Costume
The most iconic outfits in all of season 3 are these amazing sailor uniforms that Steve and Robin wore. Who knew Steve would even be willing to put a white hat over his gorgeous, carefully gelled locks?
5. Hopper & Joyce Halloween Costumes
Chief Hopper’s button-down shirt became instantly iconic, and you can find an exact copy at Spencer’s.
But, if you want to DIY the look, any loud Hawaiian shirt would do. (You can find some good ones at ASOS.) But you also must include the Magnum P.I. mustache! Joyce has the most subtle style of all the Stranger Things cast, and you can achieve her look with just a ringer tee and a hoodie tied around the waist. Both work well with some relaxed jeans.
6. Billy Hargrove (Pre-Flaying)
Start growing your mullet now, because Billy’s lifeguard ensemble is the ultimate Halloween costume (or lack thereof). Slip on the official Stranger Things x H&M Hawkins Pool swim trunks, then throw on a whistle and you’re ready to save some lives – or yell at kids for running, whatever.
7. The Gang
Group costume, anyone? Every person in your crew can channel their favorite Stranger Things character after one quick trip to the thrift store. Basically, just throw on a pair of Chuck Taylors and a T-shirt – they’ll get it.
The season 3 aesthetic is VERY different from the one before, mainly because of the seasons (duh). If you enjoy their summer lewks more, go with these key pieces from this ~ominous~ shot.
8. Eleven Halloween Costume
Everyone went crazy for this ’fit—it was part of Levi’s collab with the Netflix show, and while the exact pieces are sadly sold out on the brand’s site, they are available (with markups!) on StockX. Then mess up your hair a bit with a teasing comb and dab some fake blood around one nostril (a must), and you’re done!
This season, Eleven was all about loud patterns and wavy hair. It seems like every time she took a trip to the Starcourt Mall, the colors on her clothes got crazier and crazier. Unfortunately, her yellow Aztec shirt sold out from Levi’s immediately, but you can still find takes on the romper she wears to the mall with Max — or just get your wildest print, and pair it with some suspenders and a yellow scrunchie.
9. Dustin Halloween Costume
You can actually deck yourself out in Camp Know Where gear from head to toe, including a t-shirt, sweatshirt, sweatpants, shorts, and hat.
But it’s more fun to put together his “Roast Beef” ensemble, complete with a space-shuttle patch on the denim vest. (The patch for the Orbiter: Discovery, like the one Dustin wears, is hard to find, so you’ll have to improvise.)
10. A Demogorgon
Don’t want to be any of the kids? Be the monster that tries to kill them almost every day! This terrifying Demogorgon costume is available on Amazon if you actually want to scare the life out of everyone in your neighborhood. Enjoy!
