Sydney’s Bondi Beach, Speedos
If you think your Instagram feed is lacking in vibrant coloured-images of berry-topped granola bowls and green smoothies, you might want to pay a visit to Speedos café.
Out of 50 cafes across the globe, from Istanbul to Milan, travel magazine Big Seven Travel has named the Australian eatery the world’s most “instagrammable” as a result of its colourful food and drink options.
Located on Sydney’s Bondi Beach, Speedos is named after the Australian swimwear brand and boasts over 44,000 followers on Instagram.
A message on the company’s website states that the café serves up “top-notch #Instagrammable food with a view to match”.
Menu options at Speedos include brunch staples of eggs benedict, porridge made with figs and cashew butter, and caramelised banana and chia vegan pancakes.
A quick look at the café’s Instagram page and it’s not hard to see why it nabbed the top spot on the list.
Photos of bright pink, orange and green dishes fills its feed, as well as those of diners enjoying rainbow-hued beverages such as a red velvet latte and a deconstructed mocha.
“Bondi is one of the most iconic beaches in the world, so have such an incredible place as Speedos just a short stroll away from the water is a real treat,” Big Seven Travel states.
“Speedos serves some of the most beautiful food you’ll ever see – all hues of the rainbow feature on the menu. An absolute explosion of colours and a scenic waterfront location make this the most Instagrammable cafe in the world, hands down.”
In response to the accolade, a spokesperson from Speedos wrote on Instagram: “Starting to feel a little bit famous.”
As well as drawing in social media fans through its doors, Speedos also has some famous supporters.
Last year, The Greatest Showman actor Hugh Jackman posted a photograph of himself on Twitter enjoying a green smoothie at the Bondi Beach café, tagging the hashtag “#greenmachine”.
Food prices start at $3.50 (£1.95) at Speedos but the café states on its website that it charges a surcharge of 10 per cent on weekends and public holidays.
Runner up to Speedos was London-based cafe chain EL&N as a result of its floral walls, marble tables and colourful pastries, followed by Los Angeles’ Alfred Coffee, with its ivy-covered walls making it the perfect pit stop for a snap.
