Ever since Bollywood’s #MeToo movement gained momentum, several names have cropped up in alleged sexual misconduct cases. Recently, Anu Malik was accused of sexual harassment by several women including Shweta Pandit and Sona Mohapatra.

Although Anu has dismissed them, the allegations leveled against him are severe. And as per the recent buzz, he has stepped down as the judge of reality-show Indian Idol 10.

The statement reads, “Anu Malik is no longer a part of the Indian Idol jury panel. The show will continue its planned schedule and we will invite some of the biggest names in Indian music as guests to join Vishal and Neha to judge the extraordinary talent of Indian Idol season 10.” While the channel has not gone into the reason as to why has Anu been sacked, reports suggest that it is all thanks to the sexual harassment charges levelled on him by Sona Mohapatra and Shweta Pandit.
Shweta Pandit, who debuted with Yash Raj Film’s Mohabbatein, took to Twitter and recounted the experience when she was 15. In a heavily worded post, she stated that he said that he would give her work if she gave him a kiss. She captioned it as, “Had to go back to my worst memory as a teenage girl today to write this and speak up – its now or never. This is my #MeToo and have to warn young girls about #AnuMalik & let you know your #TimesUp @IndiaMeToo Thank you @sonamohapatra for speaking up about him & supporting this.” She isn’t the first one to have named and shamed Anu. Earlier, singer Sona Mohapatra had labelled him as a ‘sexual predator.’
Anu Malik, on the other hand, had given a statement saying, “She’s meaning some case that had happened a long time back. It has nothing to do with me. I have never worked with her also. So, I don’t want to comment anything on it. She’s just dragging my name into this. I have not even met her.”
