Complaint filed against Swara for referring to 4-yr-old as ch****a

Swara Bhasker has landed in trouble after her abusive description for a child on a chat show. After netizens vented their fury over her comments, there is legal trouble for her too. Two complaints have been filed against the actor, one by an NGO and another by a BJP worker.

An NGO Legal Rights Protection Forum has filed a complaint with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights. On their Twitter handle, the organisation wrote, ” Filed Complaint with NCPCR against an Actress named Swara Bhaskar for her racist & discriminating comments against Children of Southern Part of India during a TV Show. Sought strict action against Actress & directions to Hotstar to remove content from all its Online accounts.” (sic)

A Bharatiya Janata Party leader named Akash Joshi also registered a complaint with the NCPCR. Sharing a photograph of the complaint he filed, he wrote on Twitter that he would not rest till Swara Bhasker was put behind bars. In the letter, he urged the authorities to take strict action against the Veerey Di Wedding actor. He also urged that action be taken against the others in the video for encouraging her behaviour. “मेरे द्वारा बाल आयोग में स्वरा भास्कर के खिलाफ शिकायत की गई है। मैं आपको जेल में डालकर ही दम लूंगा। जब तक आप की गिरफ्तारी नहीं होगी, तब तक लड़ाई जारी रहेगी।” he wrote.

Swara in an appearance with stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra on Hotstar’s chat show Son of Abish, hosted by ex-All India Bakchod comedian Abish Mathew, had opened up on her experience of shooting for a soap commercial. She had revealed how she was expecting a soap advertisement like the stars, but was surprised to find that she has to shoot with a four-year-old child. Mocking how the child called her an ‘aunty’, she used an abusive word for the child, apart from words like ‘kameena’, ‘menace’ and ‘evil.’ Social media had gone on an uproar for her comment.

Here’s the video:

Both Swara Bhasker and Abish Mathew are not new to controversies. Be it the masturbation scene in Veerey Di Wedding, expressing opionions on controversial issues or fight with Vivek Agnihotri, the actor is often at the receiving end of trolls. Abish was a part of the All India Bakchod Roast starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and others, that was pulled down and faced multiple complaints too. The AIB is inactive at the moment after some members were embroiled in the #MeToo movement last year.
