Joker becomes first R-rated movie to earn $1 billion worldwide

The Joaquin Phoenix starrer Joker has crossed the 1 billion dollar mark at worldwide box office. The Todd Phillips directorial has created history at the global box office for being the first ever R-Rated film to hit the 1 billion dollar figure. The film Joker which bagged the Golden Lion honour at the Venice Film Festival is the fourth Warner Bros and DC film which has touched such high numbers ta worldwide box office. The film titled Joker has left behind films like The Matrix Reloaded and Deadpool 2, to become the highest grosser in the R-Rated category.

The lead star of Deadpool 2, Ryan Reynolds, also wished the makers of Joker in a quirky way for achieving such a huge milestone with their film, Joker. The Joaquin Phoenix starrer had made a lot of noise even before the film had hit the big screen. The film got into trouble with the audience members who felt that the film will instigate some kind of violence due to its content. The makers of the film showed immense confidence in their film and did allow the negative comments to affect their film. The film Joker was termed by many as violent and wanted to block its release at the theatres.

But, the film got past all the hurdles that came in its way to become the highest grossing film in the R-Rated category. The fans of DC have shown their unending support to the film. The lead actor Joaquin Phoenix got a lot of appreciation for his portrayal of such a deep and complex character of Joker. This film tracked the origin of the Joker’s character.
