Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, Sadak 2 will star both of his daughters Alia Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt together for the first time. The film, which is set to go on floors next month, will be a sequel to his 1991 release Sadak.

Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter and actress Pooja Bhatt was roped in to play the lead role in his directorial venture Sadak. Now, after 29 years, Pooja will reprise her role but this time, with little sister Alia Bhatt by her side. The talented Bhatt sister-duo will be sharing screen space for the first time in the upcoming sequel, Sadak 2.  Alia, who will also lend her voice for a song in the new version of Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt-starrer Sadak (1991), has confirmed to an entertainment website that the sequel will go on floors in May this year. This will be the first time the two Bhatt sisters, Pooja and Alia will share the screen space in a film. What’s more, according to reports, the actress will also be lending her voice to the soundtrack of Sadak 2. She was earlier heard in Udta Punjab and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania as well. ”I will be lending my voice for a song in Sadak 2. There is a large and important chunk of the film that we will shoot in May,” she revealed to an entertainment website. Though filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has directed his elder daughter Pooja earlier, he is all set to work with his younger daughter Alia for the first time. Pooja Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt, the father-daughter duo has worked together in many films in the 90s like Daddy, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, Sir, Zakhm and Sadak. However, the sequel to Sadak will mark the beginning of Alia’s Bollywood journey with her father. In September last year, Sadak actress Pooja Bhatt announced her father Mahesh Bhatt’s comeback to the director’s chair after a long gap. She shared a promo video on Twitter, in which Alia can be heard humming in the background. The upcoming sequel will have Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur with the originally featured actors. Sadak 2 will hit the screens on March 25, 2020.

Alia took to Instagram to announce the news on her father’s birthday today. She wrote, “Dear Daddy, On your 70th Birthday you have given me the greatest present I could ask and dream for. You are directing me! Sadak 2 is a dream come true.. What I thought will never be possible you have made possible. Thank you daddy from the bottom of my heart, soul and bones. This will be a journey of discovery.. Of life, movies, feeling and most of all.. Of a father and daughter. I love you my not-so-old man!
