Rishi Kapoor is missing home. The veteran actor who has been away in New York for the last 10 months, was diagnosed with cancer but is now feeling very “fresh.” Rishi Kapoor along with his wife Neetu Kapoor had moved to the US last September and shared through a tweet that he was jetting off due to medical reasons.
Now that he has beat cancer, his love for acting is flooding in. “I miss work more than ever now,” he said. “I’ve never had such a big break in my life and I’ve been working for 45 years. By the time I get back, it will be 11 months and it has been very long. But in a way, I feel very fresh and geared up to do any kind of work.”
The actor also stated that he is sceptical of his work if it would be “welcomed” by people. But now he has a much bigger problem – will his blood transfusions affect his acting? “When I was going through treatment, I had a few blood transfusions. And I told Neetu that I hope with the new blood, I haven’t forgotten acting,” he said.
He talked about how he, being an avid social media user, couldn’t update much on his twitter handle since he was in the hospital. “For the first five months, I was barely tweeting because I was in the hospital going through treatment. Not that we couldn’t have dealt with it there [in India] but I had a certain problem that could only be dealt with here. Only now I am much better and free of cancer. But I feel indebted to everyone who came to see me,” he said.
Several Bollywood celebs like Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Anupam Kher, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt and others visited the actor. His son Ranbir Kapoor constantly flew to the US whenever he got breaks from his work schedules. He said, “One does not expect all this but you have to go through the process. You have to take charge of life and deal with it. A lot of credit goes to my wife Neetu, who has been there as a rock.”
