Zero box office collection day 1: Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, Zero has managed to earn around Rs 24.57 crore, marking one of the highest day 1 earning for SRK.
The film has registered an average occupancy of around 50 per cent. Directed by Anand L Rai, Zero was expected to earn around Rs 30 crore on day 1. However, the actual collection has turned out much lower than expected, say trade analysts.
“Zero’s day 1 net box office collection may stand around Rs 20 crore,” said Rathi. With this, the film’s gross collection stands around Rs 24.57 crore.
When asked whether the Saturday’s collection will be affected due to negative movie reviews, Rathi rejected the argument.
“Negative reviews may not affect the film. Its Saturday’s collection will be around the first day earning. It maybe up or down by a crore or so,” said Rathi.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh also said that the film has earned R 20.14 crore on the first day.
“#Zero has underperformed on Day 1, despite extensive release [4380 screens] + #Christmas vacations… Sat and Sun biz extremely crucial… Fri Rs 20.14 cr. India biz,” said Adarsh.

The multi-starrer film has failed to impress film critics who termed the film a letdown.
Adarsh himself has termed the film a ‘Fiasco’.
“#OneWordReview… #Zero: FIASCO Rating: *½ Expected so much from this collaboration [SRK and director Aanand L Rai]… Sadly, the flawed writing – especially the second hour – takes the film downhill… EPIC DISAPPOINTMENT… #ZeroReview,” he said.

Zero mostly opened to lukewarm reviews with praises for Shah Rukh Khan’s performance. “Shah Rukh Khan cannot be faulted. He gives his hundred per cent to liven up Zero, but for a film running on empty that is only a zero-sum game. Anushka Sharma contorts her face and angles her lips to deliver her lines – Full marks to her for effort. Katrina, who inevitably makes her entry with an item number, tries her best to convey the angst of a public figure whose life is a series of mishaps,” he wrote.
Shah Rukh Khan plays the role of a vertically challenged man named Bauua Singh. Anushka Sharma features as a specially abled scientist named Aafia while Katrina plays the role of an alcoholic actress Babita Kumari.
