Bollywood celebrities are subjected to trolls and constant criticism for their career choices, sartorial choices, relationship choices and literally every other decision. This became quite evident when Bhumi Pednekar look for Bala was trolled brutally. The character of the film demanded a brown-skinned girl and Bhumi achieved that look with makeup but this didn’t go so well with the audience as they trolled her for going darker than her actual skin colour.
Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam, who will be sharing screen space in Bala alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, have become good friends while shooting together. And when Yami was asked a question about the trolls who were trolling Bhumi for her look in the film, she had a befitting reply for all those questioning her co-star. In Bhumi’s defence, Yami said that it was the demand of the character and Bhumi has done a wonderful job by staying true to her character, in whatever way possible.
While speaking about the same, the actress said in an official statement, “It is disappointing that people can’t get past themselves and their prejudices, trying to transfer all of that negativity on to us. Bala is a film about loving oneself and there’s solid reason in the film for a certain look. We were all sold at Amar Kaushik’s vision and it’s necessary that people watch the film people first.”
On the work front, Yami Gautam will grace the theatres in the role of Pari in Bala that is slated for release on November 7. The film’s co-stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar along with Yami Gautam are busy promoting the film before its release.
Yami was last seen in Uri: The Surgical Strike co-starring Vicky Kaushal. Currently, she is filming for Puneet Khanna directorial Ginny Weds Sunny that will hit the theatres next year.
